Intro

Member Protection Information Officers (MPIOs) are an integral part of all levels of Australia sport, especially grassroots sport. MPIOs are there to listen to issues raised by members of any sport before triaging and referring them to the right place to find a resolution. The MPIO is responsible for providing information about a person's rights, responsibilities and options to an individual making a complaint or raising a concern, as well as information support during the process.

Training content:

  • identify your sport’s child safeguarding and member protection policies and relevant complaint handling contacts
  • explain the responsibilities of a Member Protection Information Officer in a sporting organisation
  • utilise skills in listening, decision making and trauma-informed practice
  • identify if a matter raised is a potential breach of your organisation’s policy
  • advise on options available to participants who have witnessed or experienced a potential breach of prohibited conduct
  • advise on activities clubs can take to promote safe, fair and inclusive sport.

Applicants will need to have completed MPIO Part 1, which is a free self-paced online course. Complete Part 1 online through the Sport Integrity Australia eLearning site.
