Intro

The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport is delivering the Regional governance success series, facilitated by Caroline Robinson from 150Square.

This series offers 6 online sessions to help regional association and club committee members strengthen governance and leadership skills.

Each session focuses on practical knowledge you can apply straight away. Sessions include tools, resources and a case study to show how the concepts work in real situations. You will also have time to ask questions and take part in group problem solving.

Session 2: No one wants to be a Treasurer

Build your confidence with finances and take the stress out of managing money. We cover the basics of budgeting, financial reporting and funding sources. You will learn what good financial practices look like and how to support transparency and accountability in your organisation. 

What you will learn

Across the series, we cover key areas to help you build strong and sustainable organisations:

  • governance foundations and compliance
  • financial management and budgeting
  • running effective meetings
  • planning and risk management
  • workforce and volunteer sustainability
  • future trends and emerging tools.

Each session includes a practical case study to help you apply what you learn in a real-world context.

These webinars is suitable for all experience levels. Whether you are new to committee work or want to build your skills, these sessions will help you.

It is designed for people involved in regional sport and recreation, including:

Meet the presenter — Caroline Robinson

With a passion for assisting not-for-profits through governance and strategy, Caroline combines extensive experience with a broad-thinking, strategic approach to produce people-centred solutions. Connecting the people, services and information rural organisations need to help them expand and thrive in their community. Caroline leads the not forprofit service and also provides support to small rural local governments.

Caroline currently holds an EO position on the North Eastern Wheatbelt Regional Organisation of Councils and has also held board positions on state government, rural not-for-profits, sports clubs and the Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry WA. In 2011 Caroline was awarded the Agrifutures National and WA Rural Woman of the Year, as well as the Shire of Narembeen Citizen of the Year in 2018.

Caroline is currently the Chair of the Ravensthorpe Hopetoun Future Fund, resides on the WA Country Health Service Board, is the Company Secretary of the SEGRA Foundation and President of the Eastern Districts Hockey Association.
