Intro
The elite-level rivalry makes its return for the first time in more than 25 years. The last AFL State of Origin match was played in 1999, when Victoria faced South Australia at the MCG, while the last time Western Australia and Victoria met in this format was in 1992.
The match will kick off at 4:40pm AWST, with a range of events and activations taking place in the lead-up, celebrating the rich history of WA football and bringing the community together across the State.
AFL Origin activations and events
A number of cultural institutions and venues are marking the occasion:
Celebrations will take place across the entire state, including players’ hometowns, with regional community groups, sporting clubs and hospitality venues joining in the festivities with AFL Origin branding and live match broadcasts, including a pop-up screen at the Subiaco Night Markets, the Yagan Square digital tower, and the Footy Fest big screen.
