The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) is seeking an experienced professional to join its Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) as an independent member.

About the Audit and Risk Committee

The ARC supports the Director General by providing independent oversight and advice on governance, risk management, internal controls and assurance.

It plays a key role in strengthening public sector accountability, integrity and sound governance.

Required skills and experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • senior‑level experience in any of the following fields – risk, governance, business continuity, information technology, or financial oversight
  • a strong understanding of internal control frameworks, information systems, and technology-based assurance, especially those that support financial reporting controls
  • financial literacy and the ability to interpret complex assurance information
  • experience contributing to audit and risk committees (or similar), including the ability to challenge constructively
  • strong judgement, independence and leadership capability.

Experience in the public sector and/or familiarity with public sector governance frameworks is highly desirable but not essential.

Independence requirements

To maintain independence, applicants must not:

  • be a current employee of CITS
  • have conflicts of interest that cannot be appropriately managed.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a conflict-of-interest declaration.
