Celebrate the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week

Western Australians are encouraged to celebrate the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week from 5 to 12 July 2026, joining communities across the State in recognising and celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year's theme, '50 Years of Deadly', celebrates the strength, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It honours the Elders, artists, leaders and communities who have shaped the NAIDOC journey over the past 5 decades and recognises the legacy they continue to build for future generations.

The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport is committed to supporting Aboriginal people and communities and celebrating the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal Western Australians.

Through Aboriginal History WA, the department helps Aboriginal people access family history records and promotes a greater understanding of Western Australia's shared history. The recently launched Jina: Western Australian Aboriginal Tourism Action Plan 2026–2030 also supports the growth of Aboriginal tourism businesses while celebrating culture, connection to Country and authentic visitor experiences.

Communities across Western Australia will mark NAIDOC Week with cultural performances, exhibitions, workshops and community celebrations. Everyone is encouraged to take part, connect with community and celebrate the stories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Visit the NAIDOC local event listings page to find events taking place across Western Australia.
