Funding will assist sport and active recreation organisations to secure and deliver international, national and mass participation events across the State.

These events strengthen communities, encourage active participation, and deliver social, community and economic benefits, while also showcasing Western Australia as a leading destination for sport and recreation.

Funding will also drive opportunities for talented local athletes, coaches and officials to compete at national and international levels, while helping regional communities to attract major events and sport development opportunities.

Funding is available across three streams:

  • Event Project grants support strategic event planning and bid development
  • Event Hosting grants support national, international and mass participation events
  • Country Sport Enrichment Scheme supports high-level events and sport development opportunities in regional WA.

Applications are open until 21 September 2026.

Previously funded events have ranged from elite competitions such as the 2026 Yonex Australian National Team and Individual Badminton Championships and the AusCycling Road National Championships, through to major participation events including Ship to Shore in Port Hedland, Rottnest Running Festival and the Mighty Jarrah Trail Run.
