Construction continues across the Perth Cultural Centre. See how the revitalisation is progressing in the video below.

Eastern precinct (Beaufort Street to the Art Gallery of WA)

Initial earthworks, structural footings, retaining walls and garden planter beds have now been completed. Contractors are undertaking soil remediation and waterproofing works laying the foundation for future landscaping and planting activities.

Central precinct

The new shade canopy structure is now in place. Electrical, water and event infrastructure is being installed, while new timber decking is being laid beneath the canopy. Detailed concrete works and enhancements around existing trees and public spaces continues.

Western precinct (near James Street) 

New retaining walls, garden beds, pedestrian ramps and stairs are taking shape, supported by civil infrastructure upgrades. Following the removal of outdated planter beds, site levelling and the installation of new stone paving are now underway, helping create accessible and connected public spaces throughout the precinct. 

The landscaping vision is coming to life, with 10 additional trees recently planted across the site, adding to the project's vision of a greener, cooler and more welcoming Perth Cultural Centre. 

The tree species include Stout Paperbark, Spotted Gum and Flooded Gum trees. 

What’s coming up

Over the coming months, works will focus on paving, further earthworks, landscaping, planter walls, lighting installation and new pedestrian infrastructure throughout the site. 

As these elements come together, the precinct moves closer to becoming a vibrant, accessible and welcoming cultural destination for everyone to enjoy.
