Creative Organisations Multiyear Funding Programs

From 2027 there will be two multiyear funding programs to support Western Australia’s small to medium arts, culture and creative sector organisations: a two-year and a four-year organisations program 

The program aims to build strong Western Australian arts, cultural and creative sector organisations that support the vibrancy of the State.

Creative Organisations Two Year Program

The Creative Organisations Two Year Program replaces the Annual Program of Activity category in the Arts Projects for Organisations program. It is a competitive program that provides two-year funding to small to medium organisations that bring dynamism to, and provide targeted support for, Western Australia’s creative ecosystem

Program objectives

The program invests in a portfolio of small to medium organisations that: 

  • Build organisational stability by strengthening governance, planning and operational capacity. 
  • Deliver a range of creative, cultural and arts activities that are innovative, authentic, and demonstrate high artistic merit.
  • Increase access and participation across WA by delivering programs that broaden community engagement, reflect WA’s diversity, and / or promote equity and inclusion. 
  • Celebrate WA stories and cultural traditions that strengthen cultural identity and fosters community connection.
  • Encourage partnerships, innovation and collaboration that improves resilience, support resource sharing, and sector-wide sustainability. 
  • Support initiatives that grow employment and enhance professional development for artists, creatives, and cultural workers, while leveraging diverse funding sources to build financial sustainability. 

Program dates

The 2027 Creative Organisations – Two Year Program provides successful organisations two years of funding commencing on either:

  • 1 January 2027 for Calendar Year Organisations 
  • 1 July 2027 for Financial Year Organisations.

Funding request

The program has a minimum funding request of $80,000 up to $200,000 per annum. 

Who can apply?

The Program supports professional arts, cultural and creative organisations that: 

  • have received Creative Industries grant program funding in the last 2 years. 
  • are not-for-profit
  • have been legally constituted for a minimum of two years
  • are based in Western Australia
  • have formal governance and professional operational infrastructure
  • have annual financial budgeting processes and reporting systems.
  • have an average income (inclusive of CITS funding) of at least $120,000 per annum for the past two years. 

Creative Organisations Four Year Program 

The Creative Organisations Four Year program is the new name for the Arts Organisations Investment Program (AOIP). It is a competitive program that supports longstanding small-to-medium arts, cultural and creative organisations in Western Australia essential to the ecosystem for sustained impact.

Program objectives

The program invests in a portfolio of small to medium organisations that:

  • Strengthen sector capacity and sustainability by supporting established arts, cultural and creative organisations to lead with resilience, innovation and sustainability, driving a vibrant WA creative ecosystem. 
  • Deliver high-quality and impactful creative work that is original and contributes to WA’s cultural vibrancy.  
  • Enhance community engagement and inclusion to broaden and deepen access to arts and culture across WA, ensuring diverse communities are represented and included actively engaged in creative experiences.
  • Celebrate WA identity by showcasing the State’s rich diversity through storytelling, place-based experiences and cultural expression that deepens community connection.
  • Drive partnerships and new models of working that fosters innovation, collaboration, participation and shared resources to strengthen long-term sustainability across the sector.
  • Deliver economic and workforce development to drive WA’s creative economy by increasing employment opportunities, advancing professional skills, and attracting funding and investment from diverse sources.

  • 1 July 2027 for Financial Year Organisations
  •  1 January 2028 for Calendar Year Organisations. 

Funding request

It is recommended that you approach your request based on your current level of funding and program delivery priorities.

Who can apply?

The Program is open to professional arts, cultural and creative organisations that are in receipt of Arts Organisation Investment Program funding 2023-2027.  

Creative Organisations grant information sessions

The department will host a series of drop-in information sessions to provide guidance and advice to organisations considering applying to these programs.
